Who are we?
We are a team of dedicated individuals who take ownership for improving the profit, cash flow and engagement scores of our clients.
What are we all about?
Achieving success: corporately, personally and within the communities where we live and do business.
What do we do?
In a nutshell, we help growth-oriented organizations to reduce wasted resources such as their employees' hearts, minds and hands; sales team efforts; marketing dollars; recruitment budget; accounts receivable write-offs; cost of goods sold expenditures and customer churn. We review corporate goals and objectives; mission and vision statements and we ensure that whatever initiatives we help to create are 100% aligned.
We analyze current incentive programs for wasted opportunities, wasted expenditures and wasted resources and if a client doesn’t have an incentive plan in place, we work with the departments who have the greatest impact in the success of the organization.
We look at the external factors that will impact each client. We also consider any internal factors that may positively or negatively create an impact. We work very closely with multiple departments within the organization... even if they have never been asked for their input before... because absolutely nothing happens in a silo.
We then build an incentive plan, tied to your business and marketing plans, which includes incentive and recognition program(s) with rules structure to maximize profit and cash flow and provide the biggest and best return, while always being mindful that people will make or break the plan.
After your program launches, we then keep a very close eye on your results and we will suggest modifications if internal or external factors change and/or if the plan is not producing as expected.
At the end of the program we review results, make suggestions and build on the success with the next program.
A little bit about us:
Carol Wain is the founder of the World Incentive Network Inc. (WIN), the parent company of both Incentive Depot (IDI) and Marquee Destination Services (MDS).
IDI was founded in 1996 as an incentive travel company and, over the years, expanded into a full-service incentive marketing company which developed proprietary software to manage incentive, loyalty and recognition programs; and it also provided multiple types of rewards to clients in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
The recent economic realities changed the business landscape dramatically and the incentive industry was not left unscathed. As a result, which really was a blessing in disguise, Ms. Wain re-evaluated the direction of IDI and determined that it was best to outsource technology and the majority of reward fulfillment capabilities so that her team could concentrate on the primary reason that this multi-billion dollar per year industry exists, which is because, when done right, an incentive plan is a tool that builds business in a positive and responsible way.
According to Ms. Wain, the reason the industry became the target of both politicians and journalists is twofold. “Many organizations who create programs in-house, don’t do it right. They don’t have the tools, they don’t have the time and they don’t have the skills and experience to create an incentive plan, which is a complex financial and behavioural science initiative. Then there are the incentive reward suppliers who are experts in selling “stuff” or travel experiences. However, when they forayed into the territory of incentive specialists by selling directly to the organizations that build their own programs, they helped perpetuate the perception that these programs were a waste of time and money because the analysis wasn’t included.” She continued “That being said, the pendulum has swung again and the smart organizations realize that this is a job best left to professionals. To steal a page from a commercial, in the same way it wouldn’t be wise to yourself in court or do your own surgery, unless you are totally comfortable with finance AND behavioural science and how they work together, you shouldn’t be attempting to create an incentive plan either!”
Ms. Wain, who graduated from Kwantlen University College after studying “Business Management and Labour Relations”, has an extensive background in travel, tourism and performance improvement. In 1997 - 98 she wrote the travel page for the Comox Valley Record and facilitated consumer educational sessions on the topic of “ABSeas of Cruising”. She has been a licensed travel agent, is a Master Cruise Counsellor, is a member of both the Incentive Marketing Association and Recognition Professionals International and is currently serving as the EVP for the Incentive Travel Council. She previously represented western Canada as a Director for SITE Canada.
In 2003 gratefully accepted being named as “Entrepreneur of the Year for Vancouver Island”
Ms. Wain was recognized in Successful Promotions magazine for a promotion held in conjunction with the Motivation Show in 2006 and is a subject expert on the topic of global recognition, rewards programs and incentive travel.
