Buyer / Catalog Specialist Are you a highly-motivated, organized, client-focused and detail-oriented professional looking for a challenge? Courtenay, Vancouver Island, BC Compensation: Competitive hourly wage that will increase according to your performance. Hours: Part-time and varies according to demand and deadlines *Note: This position could be combined with the VIP Service Representative position to create a full-time position.
Primary Responsibilities: - Researches and sources awards for our online awards catalogs from vendors around the world
- Negotiates pricing and service standards
- Works with vendors to receive product information, pricing, descriptions and images in a timely manner
- Works with vendors to ensure that our catalog is always up-to-date
- Updates the online catalog manually through web-forms or by entering data into Excel for upload into the database
- Manipulates images, including resizing, cropping etc. and uploads via FTP
- Works with operations to ensure that client custom catalogs are created and maintained
- Works with strategic partners to ensure that they receive timely updates when awards are introduced or retired and/or when prices change
- Assists program manager with program launch, as it relates to catalogs and award choices
- Works with operations supervisor to price awards
- Follows-up with suppliers in the event that invoices don't match quoted pricing or service standards are not met
- Creates .PDF or hardcopy versions of client custom catalogs, if requested
- Researches competitors' catalogs and provides recommendations to management
- Becomes familiar with the incentive industry and workflow procedures
- Develops and builds relationship with sales and operations personnel, vendors and client contacts.
- Proactively identifies and monitors client expectations, resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Produces and delivers monthly reports relating to the profitability and positioning of the catalog, as well as statistics relating to client custom catalogs.
- Works with vendors, sales and operations teams to identify, clarify and refine recommendations for specific deliverables.
- Supports and adheres to policies and procedures established by the company and agrees with IDI's ethics, standards and commitments.
- Shares ideas on ways to improve IDI's processes, procedures, products, profit etc. and assists in the implementation.
- Assists other team members with projects as required.
Requirements:- Demonstrated ability to manage client and vendor relationships
- Strong knowledge of web application technology
- Mastered all MS Office products with an emphasis on Excel and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop for image manipulation
- Previous purchasing and/or experience researching, sourcing and negotiating with vendors
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills including email and telephone
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Has high energy level, is innovative and constantly seeking new ideas
- Well organized, ability to work to multiple deadlines.
- Works quickly and accurately, with an attention to detail
- Flexibility to travel as required
- May be required to work overtime to meet deadlines
- Team player... will pitch in and help others, including in other departments, if required.
